On view May 27- 30, ‘23 at Blue Barn, Stone Ridge, NY

Kate Orne is proud to present a curation of 30 objects created exclusively for ART+NATURE+HOME: In 3s by 10 rurally based artists working primarily in natural materials. The respective artists were each commissioned to consider and create a series of three objects reflecting upon their state of mind and our recent times. The result is a significant selection of work which touches upon communication, nature, self-reflection and dreams.

“I’ve always been drawn to parts. Parts that when combined make something whole. Nature parts are what we are, and it’s the parts that interests me” — Jason Middlebrook

Jason Middlebrook (b. 1966 in Jackson, MI) received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1990 from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and his Master of Fine Arts degree in 1994 from the San Francisco Art Institute. He also participated in the Independent Study Program at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY in 1994-1995, and completed an Iaspis Residency in Stockholm, Sweden in 2009-2010. He gathers his creative inspiration from both nature and technology, transferring their complex relationship into works of sculpture, installation, painting, large-scale drawing — and now furniture. His work is frequently a collision of nature, art making, and history.
